Family Hope Center Therapy: A Year Later

I know I haven’t written here in months, and I know this will be a fast post. However, some people have wondered what’s happened with Dr. J’s therapy since I went to training at the Family Hope Center last summer. See my son's results a year after my Family Hope Center training! via manyhatsmommy.com I just completed a re-evaluation to see where he falls. At first I was very depressed because he came out as an infant. HUH?

After trying not to cry, I figured I did something wrong in the calculating. I tore through my notes, and lo! I had! Now, here’s reality.

The only thing I’ve done since the training is the therapy laps (creeping and crawling) and a few nutrition tweaks. I did not do any of the sensory therapy. I didn’t even reach the full number of laps. I was trying to have both boys do laps and some days it’s really frustrating to keep on top of that in a one-bedroom apartment with squirrely boys!

So, imagine my surprise when…

Dr. J has gained 17% brain function. He gained 13.5 months in neurological age ABOVE the 12 that he aged! (He gained 25.5 months total.) I am very excited.

So, if you’re curious about Family Hope Center, all I can say is look at his numbers on the partial program. That’s all, folks!

Family Hope Center Progress Report

Essential Oils for Family Hope Center Scent Therapy

One of my readers asked me the other day which oils I used for the scent therapy part of Family Hope Center’s program. I figured other people are wondering the same, so here you go. I ordered them from The Essential Oil Company on the recommendation of a friend. The point of purchasing there was you could get samples for a reasonable price. Baby Steps: Beginning our Family Hope Center Special Needs Program

Well, it took longer than I wanted because we had to wait for a few things, but we are starting Dr. J’s Family Hope Center program this week. The mats arrived, the scents are on their way, and I am excited. I sat down Sunday night and sketched out in my Well Planned Day homeschool/family planner what I hope to accomplish. The Newells told us multiple times to be patient and start slowly so we don’t burnout or burnout our kiddos. I am taking them at their word.

My week of rest is over after The Family Hope Center special needs seminar. For two weeks I have been gearing up to get more serious about Dr. J’s program. I’ll be using a lot of the power of one and mind control. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed because life has been crazy lately and our apartment is so small. Final Words from the Family Hope Center Seminar

I was given a scholarship to the Family Hope Center’s 3-day seminar for purpose of reviewing the program. I have not been compensated in any way, and my opinions are my own. I have invited other parents who attended to stop by so you can see other opinions as well.

I will be writing more about the seminar, but I wanted you to get a feel for what the parents took away from the three days. At the end, just before we got our certificates of completion, Matthew Newell passed around the microphone so each parent could share the most important thing they learned from all the sessions. Of course it’s hard to pick one. Warning: you will want Kleenex.

For me, the biggest thing I learned was going through the neurological development chart, evaluating Dr. J., and seeing his neurological age on paper.

The rest of these are real parents, teachers, and caregivers. I did not make these up. I am using them as I wrote them down. Continue reading →
