One of my readers asked me the other day which oils I used for the scent therapy part of Family Hope Center’s program. I figured other people are wondering the same, so here you go. I ordered them from The Essential Oil Company on the recommendation of a friend. The point of purchasing there was you could get samples for a reasonable price. I also used the scent list she sent me that someone else going through the program recommended. Nothing original here. I may have picked up one or two others. I don’t remember.
Most of the samples were $1. Some were as high as $3. The oils came very quickly.
Anise, Basil, Black Pepper, Bergamot
Cedarwood, Chamomile, Cilantro, Cinnamon Leaf, Clary Sage
Eucalyptus, Fennel, Garlic, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit
Hyssop, Juniper Berry, Lavender, Lemon, Lime
Marjoram, Nutmeg, Orange, Oregano
Patchouli, Peppermint, Pine (White)
Rosemary, Tarragon, Tea Tree, Thyme
Vanilla, Vetiver, Ylang
Life has still been chaotic around here and yes, I confess I STILL have not started this. My goal is this week. I really want to get into it because scent helps the limbic area of the brain which is where emotional and attention issues stem from.
In other news, I’ve been discouraged trying to figure out how to get all the laps done when the boys are doing them one at a time and they need a large amount because we’re in a small apartment. Most of the time both of them on the mats at the same time doesn’t work. It ends up in a wrestling match or a yelling fight. I think I will cap Meatball’s laps at a smaller number, since Dr. J is the one who needs them more, though Meatball needs it as well. I think I also have to reconcile to focusing on math, reading, Bible and therapy. I have to get rid of homeschool mommy guilt and perceived expectations from outsiders and just focus on what we need to do for now. After all, isn’t that why I’m homeschooling?
I also need to get myself out of bed at 6am, something I continually battle. When I do that, things go much better.
So, there you have it folks. Hope it helps.

How about relay race laps? One kid tags the next one. Have them try to beat their time from the previous race? You could do x number of laps, then do some schoolwork, then x more laps, then more schoolwork.
Throwing out suggestions. We’re schedule to be at the FHC conference this coming week. I’ve gotten a little bit of a head start through the Your Thriving Child program. We also homeschool, and we also have one with a limbic brain injury, but I haven’t done well in getting regular smell sessions. :-)
Enjoying your blog posts about the FHC, and especially about the EOs. FYI, we have found Frankincense oil to be particularly healing to the brain. We apply it to the toes, spine, and temples. We’ve only been doing it for about a week, but it seems to be helpful for that limbic area. We get ours from Young Living. It’s pricey, but the quality is worth it.

Jennifer, what a great idea! Thanks for that. You will enjoy meeting the FHC team. They genuinely care about your child. Tell them I say “hello”. :)

Thank you for sharing this list! I’ve just started using doTERRA oils this summer and am still learning which ones to diffuse for the kids. I can’t even decide which diffuser I want LOL so I’ve been using topical application for various needs and just inhalation in the heat of the moment. (Having Bub sit on my lap and inhale from the lavender bottle when he’s upset, for instance, so we get him slowing, calming breaths AND the scent.) I’m going to have to take your list and compare it to my wishlist to see what I’m missing. :)

You’re welcome, Melonie. These are for the scent therapy and just samples to have a variety of smells.

What a great idea–samples! I have a large supply of essential oils from Young Living, but I’m missing some of them, like vanilla and such. Buying a bottle was going to be too pricey–and I don’t need a whole bottle. :-) Thanks for this input, about the samples.
Got back from the FHC seminar last night, and am excited about preparing for the program. They told us not to do anything for a week, but I’m not very good at following instructions. Gotta get moving on organization, at least, while I have the motivation to do so. :-)
Do you have a schedule yet?

Hi, Jennifer. You do want to take a break to let it marinate. :) My “schedule” is for them to get their laps done before 5pm. It takes a long time.

. You may even include the reasons you believe you are actually a good young boy or girl and so are deserving of which a present on your list.

I just don’t understand how you afford all the add on things every time you go.
