Back in June I went to Family Hope Center’s 3-day seminar for special needs families. We’ve been doing the creeping and crawling aspect of their therapy program. I have not added in any other new items. I was already careful with nutrition and had been working on better sleep right before I attended.
We have also not made it all the way to the highest number of laps. With everything we had going on, I needed to focus on halfway and maintaining, instead of trying to force a higher number and us all ending the day exasperated. We’ll start building up again toward the end of January after our holiday and birthday season is over.
Has doing half of the laps five times a week made a difference?
It has.
Dr. J now makes a fist correctly and can also do jumping jacks correctly.
Both of them have improved in coordination with throwing/catching, but it was extremely noticeable with my 5 year old.
I’m not sure if this is connected or not, but I think the creeping and crawling may also be affecting Dr. J’s ability to tolerate affection. He has recently let me give him kisses, not always wiping them off. He has also given me a few kisses and is “snuggling” more often. This is without starting his tactile therapy.
So, we’ve seen improvement in coordination and some reflexes, as well as possibly ability to tolerate affection, all from doing creeping and crawling halfway. I look forward to seeing what else happens next year!

Just curious how things are going since December. I’m very interested in the FHC. Thanks.

Hi, Karyn. We are still on just laps because of how life has been. However, I’m in the middle of doing a re-eval and it’s fun to see the progress both boys have made.
