I have a new feature, just for Autism Awareness Month! It will start tomorrow. I’m hoping it will be encouraging, helpful, insightful, and sometimes humorous.
Each day in April, Been There, Do That! will bring you two things:
1) “You know you’re an autism parent when…” to help others understand our lives, and to let other autism parents know they’re not alone. I have collected these from other autism parents.
2) A way to reach out to special needs families. I recognize that autism is not the only special need around. I also recognize that many times our friends want to help, but they don’t know how, or they are afraid asking may seem inappropriate. I will give you a suggestion each day that you can use to help a special needs family in your community.
I am really excited about this feature. It will post every day in the late afternoon. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Thanks to my Twitter friend Kate for being there when my creative juices weren’t! She helped me come up with the name for my feature. Please check out her Etsy shop: Thready, Set, Go! (See, she’s creative!)

You know you’re an autism parent when you get your kid up three times in the night to go to the bathroom and they still wet the bed….

You know you are an autie parent when you can cry, laugh, feel sad, feel thrilled, feel proud, feel deflated, feel hopeful, feel hopeless……….all in an hour :) :(
