Gabby Mom Review–Lorrie’s MP3s

There’s a GIVEAWAY at the end of this review, so make sure you read all the way down! I want one of my readers to win! 

It’s that time again–Gabby Mom review time! Wow. Every time I review something by Lorrie I am impressed. (No, she did not pay me to say that.) You see, Lorrie has a desire inside her soul. One of her dreams is to help other women, women like you and me, honor God by serving their families. Lorrie wants to help us live according to what God has for each of our lives, not what He has for someone else, or what someone else has for us.

There I sat, listening to one of her downloadable MP3s, The Keys to a Queenly Castle, getting my toes stepped on right and left. You see, Lorrie knows that the Queen also needs to serve, just as Christ served his disciples and friends. Her focus was not on how everyone else can make me feel like a queen, but ways for me to act, serve, and teach, so that the castle runs smoothly and my sons will learn to be princes who look for the right kind of queen some day.

Lorrie walks through twelve different keys that we can use to unlock a happy castle. Numbers 2 and 3 particularly spoke to me–mistress of her home and raises her children–as these are things I’ve already been trying to work on. As I mentioned earlier, Lorrie was sure giving me lots to think about! It could have been overwhelming, but then Lorrie said some of the best words of all, empowering words, encouraging, you-can-do-it words! She said that I am irreplaceable! That’s right! She said no one else can take care of my husband and sons like I can. When you look at it like that, it gives you energy, importance, validation, and urgency!

Later I listened to Attitude Adjustments. Again, Lorrie packs lots of great thoughts into her talk, and challenges her listeners to action. She shares a list of 26 ways (one for each letter of the alphabet) for us to help ourselves change our attitude to a more pleasant frame of mind.

There are actually 22 MP3s available over at Eternal Encouragment’s site. There are many great topics, and guess what! Lorrie is going to choose a winner via random.org on June 18th to choose an MP3 they’d like!

A Marriage Workout

When I opened the electronic file for this month’s Gabby Mom product review from Eternal Encouragement Magazine, I saw it was a bunch of ebooks on marriage, two back issues of the magazine, and some audio. “No sweat,” I thought. “I’ll get this knocked out quickly. Shouldn’t be too much to read.” With that, I closed the email and went on to the next item in my inbox.

You know what? I was wrong! Lorrie Flem, the publisher of the magazine, stuffed a whole marriage workshop into those ebooks and audio files–over 350 written pages and over two hours of listening! Whew! What a workout! Continue reading →

father friday– @derekcummings77

Today is the final Friday in April. That means it’s our last dad for Autism Awareness Month. I have enjoyed having the dads add their perspective. I think it’s needed. So, I hope to have my husband or another dad share once a month in the future.

I surprised @derekcummings77 when I asked him if he’d like to finish off the month. He’s been a great re-tweeter on Twitter, so I thought he might like a chance to put a few words in. I am glad that even though I surprised him, he was still willing to write.

I caught him at a raw moment. A moment I can imagine, as I have many tear-filled moments of my own. However, I know it’s different. He has a different child, and he’s a dad.

Eternal Encouragement Magazine Review

Encouraging Moments E-zine Review

 

This is one of my all-time favorite pictures of my boys and me. Aren’t they cute? Don’t I look like a happy homemaker with her two happy boys?

Fast-forward two years. I’m now a Gabby Mom, and I’m supposed to review products for Eternal Encouragement magazine. This month, I am excited to review Lorrie Flem’s FREE e-zine. I sit down at the computer, open my email, “Get off me! Mom, HE HIT ME!” *sigh* Go smooth over sibling issue.


Sit down at computer. Look at screen. I LOVE the design, so welcoming and peaceful! SCREAMING. *sigh* Rescue little brother.


Sit down in front of computer, nerves now frazzled, start reading about Drastic Discount Days and a special deal on a bundle that would help my mornings be calm. Oh, that sounds good! WATER SPILLED ALL OVER TABLE. *sigh* Clean up mess, try to be patient, sit down again.

Click “play” on Chick Flicks for Moms video and try to concentrate on Lorrie as she shares from her heart. “MOOOOMMMMM!” *sigh, sigh, sigh!* Decide to try again another day.


I am not kidding. That’s how this month’s review process started! Let’s just say that I was not feeling all sunny and happy like the picture of us at the zoo. Now you know I’m knee-deep into messy parenting just like the rest of you! Needless to say, it took me a few sittings to browse the e-zine and benefit fully.


Ironically, the e-zine’s tag line is “Our Moments Are Short and Sweet.” And they are. The publishers just weren’t including all the interruptions from my autistic son and his little brother! You truly can sit down for a short break and get some quick encouragement when you browse Lorrie’s Encouraging Moments E-zine. Plus, it’s FREE!


When I finally had quiet moments, I read a valuable reminder to pray for my husband and thus strengthen my marriage. There was even a 31-Day Plan included! Then I marvelled at another woman’s accomplishments as she shared how she helped her family by sticking to a budget. Finally, I found out what’s been going on at the Eternal Encouragement Facebook page!
