Overwhelmed? Write It Down & Choose Gratitude

In nice words, November kind of stunk. I was sick for most of it, and still am as I’m writing this. Other stuff happened, ending  with spending Thanksgiving in the hospital with Dr. J.

Yuck.

Yesterday I was feeling overwhelmed. When you have a month like that, you just get behind in pretty much everything. So, after crying, eating chocolate, and taking a shower, I came up with a plan. Continue reading

Wednesday’s Woman–Heather Von St. James, Mesothelioma Cancer Survivor

Today’s Wednesday’s Woman approached me about something else for my blog. When I heard what she had to say, I decided she needed to be a Wednesday’s Woman! And now, here is Heather in her own words.

My Name is Heather Von St James. I am a mesothelioma cancer survivor. When I was just 36 years old, I was diagnosed with this killer.  Mesothelioma claims the lives of 90-95% of those who have it. I am one of the very few lucky ones to have beaten this disease. Continue reading

Gabby Mom Review–Welcome Home, Daddy

OK, moms. You are reading this, and most likely no one else is reading over your shoulder. Time for a moment of evaluation. When your husband comes home from work–whether it’s in time for dinner, breakfast, or somewhere in between–do you stop to say “hello” and make him feel glad he’s home? How about the time your family spends together–are you surviving or thriving? (No one is listening to your mental answers, don’t worry.) Continue reading

Wednesday’s Woman–Lisa Gallegos, Autism Mom and More

I am pleased to bring you another Twitter friend today. She has chosen to take life’s challenges and do something about them, instead of let them bury her in despair. I’m proud of her for that, and glad to know her. She is also the author of “Glitter Fixes Everything” in Wit & Wisdom from the Parents of Special Needs Kids. And now, here is Lisa in her own words…

My name is Lisa Gallegos, I’m mother to seven kids, two dogs, a cat, and best friend to my husband/boyfriend for the last 11 years. Continue reading

Guest Post: Creative Ways to Exercise During a Busy Day

OK, as I added “guest post” to the title up there, I laughed to myself. Notice this exercise post is coming from someone else! Ha! Anyway, there are some good ideas in here for helping busy folks still keep their bodies healthy and working well. Enjoy!

Creative Ways to Exercise During a Busy Day

Many people are struggling with ways to fit exercise into their busy lives. Experts agree that individuals need only to become more active on a daily basis to reap the benefits. While hitting the gym on a regular basis or engaging in organized sports are great ways to fit in more activity, many individuals simply do not have the time. At least that is the most common excuse given. Fact of the matter is that the average American spends nearly four hours each day watching television every day!

The importance of eating a healthy and balanced diet is even more paramount when an individual is getting little to no physical activity on a regular basis. There is no room for the occasional treat in this scenario. The good news is that there are many creative and fun ways to fit exercise into any daily routine, even for families with small children. Let’s get real. Most of you reading this are women. Among that set, most of you are moms (and if you’re not, you can still read on). What’s life really like?

Real women face messes. Real women love the ones who make the messes. Real women yell raise their voices. Real women try to instill good character in their children. Real women have many roles. Real women often have too much to do. Real women face exhaustion.

This month’s Gabby Mom review for Eternal Encouragement magazine is Lorrie’s latest video product From Exhausted, Irritable, and Overwhelmed to An Energized and Fulfilled Woman of God. Continue reading

Wednesday’s Woman–Bobbie Padgett, Mrs. Kansas

Well, this is a FIRST for Many Hats Mommy! Remember Bobbi Sheahan, author, from a few weeks ago? She recommended her friend Bobbie for a Wendesday’s Woman spotlight. I confess I’m not much of a pageant girl, but I love her adoption focus, and I also thought it could be a lot of fun. So, here in her own words is Bobbie Padgett.

Hi my name is Bobbie Padgett. I live in Topeka, Kansas and was crowned Mrs. Kansas 2012 on Labor Day 2011. I am excited to be representing the fine married women from the great state ofKansas.
