Mmmm…warm bread! Just in time for cooler temperatures and holiday gatherings. Enjoy this recipe from Joyce!
Dill Bread
1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in ¼ c. warm water
1 c. small curd cottage cheese, warmed slightly
1 T instant onions 1 T butter
2 t dill weed 1 t salt
¼ t baking soda 1 egg, beaten
2 T sugar
Beat these ingredients together well.
Add 2 ½ c flour.
Knead well. Place in greased bowl to double in bulk (1 – 2 hours).
Punch down. Knead again. Divide in two. Place in bread pans.
Let rise again. Bake 350 for 50 minutes. Remove from pan.
Brush with butter and sprinkle with salt and parsley flakes.
Nice for brunch or at holiday times. Don’t waste this as a sandwich! It is really tasty warmed or toasted with butter!
I’m really jealous that this isn’t GFCF! Enjoy, everyone!
Joyce Herzog is a gifted teacher and author of many educational products that enhance teaching for you and learning for your students. Joyce’s early years of teaching were filled with the pain and heartbreak of watching numerous boys (especially from 8 to 12 years old) who had not learned to read. They had developed all sorts of masks and defenses pretending that it didn’t matter, but it was obvious that they really cared. As the years passed, Joyce invested thousands of dollars into materials that were full of empty promises. As her frustration grew, her creativity blossomed. She found new ways to describe the phonics rules and developed new methods of practice that especially appealed to her hands-on and visual learners. Doesn’t it sound yummy? I’m really jealous! Maybe I’ll get Sarah to mess around with a gluten free version and she and I can sneak it. ;)
