Well, the good news is that you can never really run out of any household item or stuff that needs working on, even if you look around and feel everything is okay. So, here is what you should do; put on your usual work shorts and sandals, and look around your home. Chances are that you are probably going to find about a dozen things that need attention. If not, then here is a short list of some of the household items which you can look at to check whether they need your attention or not. Chances are, they probably do.
1. Take a walk
A visual inspection is the best way you can easily notice anything that is amiss and requires your attention. A lot can happen between the winter and summer seasons. Taking a walk around and in your home can help you notice any item which is in critical condition and fix it early enough to prevent any further damage. Examine the soffits, windows, doors, screens and even the vents for any damage. If you find any, attempt a DIY on it. But if you can’t, then you can call a professional to help you out.
2. Peek into your crawl space
You also need to check your house crawl space. You never know. Maybe critters have set up house, or you have frozen or broken pipes, and sometimes even mold may have begun to form from the moisture. You need to be on the lookout for any of these signs and look for the appropriate control measures for each. You may have a busy summer holiday.
3. Survey winter’s damage in your yard
You can start by applying fresh mulch in your garden. You can also grab a rake and try to clear out some dead grass, sticks or weeds from your garden. A mulching powder can help you recycle it all.

5. Tune up your mower
Summertime is the best time you can also look to tune up your lawn mower. Check whether the oil is okay, clean the exterior, change the spark and oil plugs if need be, and ensure to fill the mower’s tank with fresh fuel. You can also use a leaf blower or compressed air to clear and grass, debris, and dirt from the mower.
6. Check your AC
With the dawn of the summer period, you need to ensure that your AC system is up, in good shape and ready to hash out the summer heat. Change your unit’s air filters. You can even clear any dirt and dust from the outside of the condenser.
7. Prepare your dishwasher
You can also check your dishwasher to ensure that it is clear of any debris and clean and ready to handle all the dirty dishes for the summer and not clog or stop functioning at an inopportune time.
