August Gabby Mom Review–Finishing the 5 R’s

Are you overwhelmed by your household responsibilities? Ever been frustrated by your discipline system? Feel like you could use a rest?

Then have I got

help for you!

When you go through Lorrie Flem’s 5 R’s , you will be encouraged and armed with tools from almost 6 hours of audio and 5 mini ebooks! These are all easily downloaded right from Eternal Encouragement magazine’s site. You can get help today!

The third R, Refine, starts out with a hilarious story from Lorrie. I’m not going to share–if you want to hear it, you have to order–but let’s just say it puts all of her listeners at ease, reminding them she has started with a messy house, and knows her topic personally!

Here’s my favorite quote from this R:

“Less is more. Less is more time. Less is more room. Less is more freedom. Less is more energy. Less stuff is more patience for Mom….If you clear out clutter, you are clearing out confusion.”

I don’t know about you, but I can really relate to “less stuff is more patience for Mom.” Lorrie goes on to give suggestions that you can use to make your home more the way you’d like it to be. The one that has stuck in my head the most is her “touch it once rule”. I haven’t mastered it yet, but I hear Lorrie in my head!

But wait, there’s more!

With R #4, Rejuvenate, Lorrie discusses training our children. “If you have a child who that’s rude, lazy, disrespectful, or rebellious, did you know he was trained to be that way?” Ouch. Lorrie reminds us that when we ignore things, we allow our children to train themselves. We need to love them by giving up our time and desires and train our children and spend time on them.

Of course Lorrie doesn’t leave us hopeless! She offers advice and tips! Here are two of my favorites, but of course there’s more jammed into her MP3/ebook. Lorrie points out that we have to make sure we’ve given our children the right boundaries and expectations. That way they know what is considered obedience. For example, when you put the laundry away, please put the empty basket back in your closet.

Then Lorrie gives us her “ruler” for obedience–CRIJ–Completely, Respectfully, Immediately, Joyfully. “True obedience never even questions the authority over them.” (Hmmm…how many times do I question God, my authority?) I also love that, as usual, Lorrie emphasizes the Bible’s importance, and the need to stand firm in what God wants us to do, and to love our children enough to train them, instead of giving in to the temptation to be lazy.

But wait, there’s more!

Did you think that was everything? Of course not! Lorrie knows we can all use encouragement to keep going, to persevere in the jobs God has given us to do. She takes time to speak from her heart with the 5th R, Rest.

Rest often starts with our internal state, and after sharing the story of the death of her hard drive, and all the information lost for her family and the magazine, Lorrie encourages us to sing. WHAT!? Sing in the midst of stress?

Sing the song Count Your Blessings, and you’ll be reminded that “if you can trust Jesus with your salvation, then you can trust Him with other things in your life like your hard drive, with your husband’s job, with your homeschool, your schedules, like your need for rest.” It helps you change your perspective and focus on what’s important.

Wow.

But wait, there’s more!

If you missed the first two R’s (Refresh and Rekindle), you can click here to read my review of those. The first addresses our relationship with God, and the second our relationship with our husband!

After listening to Lorrie’s 5 sessions, I can easily understand why this package is her top seller! ALL of us can use wisdom from the 5 R’s over and over and over again! Stop here for more information on how to order your own ladies’ retreat in an electronic file!

I received this bundle for my honest review as part of the Gabby Moms program. All opinions are my own.
